Karewa Ocean race was revived with special thanks to those paddlers whom travelled from as far as Auckland, Gisborne, Whakatane, Hamilton, Rotorua & Tauranga. It was great to have your support for our KAREWA Island race and both Fluffy Slipper crews who are preparing for World Sprint Championships in Canada.

The Porirua Canoe Kayak Club (PCKC) has 14 waka ama paddlers who have been selected to represent New Zealand at the IVF World Waka Ama Sprint Championships in Calgary, Canada in August 2012.

Some athletes take most of their careers before they represent their country. Not so for Koha-Alofa Vitolio, who has already taken gold at this year's waka ama nationals. At only 12, she is the youngest competitor to represent New Zealand at the Va'a World Sprints Championships in Canada in August.
