Kia ora tatou. Just a quick message about ski and waka hire for the Poor Knights Crossing, September 3. There are a limited number of skis and very few waka available through dealers for hire purposes for this year’s race.
I’m just putting the word out to all our NZ based waka and ski paddlers. If you have a craft of suitable standard that you might consider hiring out to a visiting paddler then maybe make yourself known to me via email:
racedirector@
Also, if you’re overseas based and might want a certain type of racing craft, please let us here at Poor Knights Crossing HQ know what you might be after, we will do our best to get you on the water.
Me thinking about this problem!
Just one further comment: I hear some of you are hovering on the fence about taking on tangaroa (the sea) and tawhirimatea (the wind) just in case the two brothers are arguing on race day. Yes, you need to be a competent paddler….BUT….if ever you are going to presented with the chance to tackle true open ocean paddling, then it will never be safer than during this race……
