Waka ama participants are invited to join mana whenua guide Bodie Taylor for an immersive Moa Hunter cultural experience at Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari.

Step into the ancient ngahere, awaken your senses, and discover Māori bush lore as you walk the maunga that stands above Karāpiro.

Ngāti Korokī-Kahukura, along with the Waikato Iwi Tuna Collective and Waikato River Authority will release elvers on Monday 12th at Lake Karāpiro, helping to clean the lake's ecosystem on day 2 of the 2026 Waka Ama National Sprint Championships.
