Waka Ama Sprint Nationals 2020 and beyond

After the immense success of the 2019 Waka Ama Sprint Nationals held at Lake Karāpiro, Waka Ama New Zealand identified that due to a regular increase in numbers and the projected future increases - we needed to make some changes. As a result of this analysis, Waka Ama New Zealand has decided to increase the Sprint Nationals Event from the current 6 days format to 7 days of racing for all future Sprint Nationals events.

Kia ora e te whānau, it's been awhile since our last profile but we would like to introduce Laurie (Skin) Atkins. Skin will be representing Aotearoa in the V1 Master 60 Mens division and racing in the Aotearoa Master 60 Mens crew with his Taniwah team mates. As a frequent competitor at our National and Regional events - Skin is a well known name around the rohe! Hailing from the winterless North, Skin is an avid V1 paddler and we are looking forward to supporting him on the world stage in a few months time!

Meet our Aotearoa Master 50 Women Representative - Yvonne Rogers. Not only is Yvonne representing Aotearoa in the V1 but she is in the Master 50 Women’s V6 team AND is the manager of the Elite Premier Women’s Team. Ka mau te wehi! Yvonne is a passionate paddler and her infectious smile can be found at most races every other weekend. Yvonne has a vast experience of racing internationally and we are really looking forward to supporting her as she takes on the top Master 50 women from around the world. We would like to wish Yvonne and her team a fantastic build up for the IVF Va'a World Distance Champs!
