Volunteers of Waka Ama
The Volunteers are the heart and soul of our sport, it takes 160 to make Waka Ama nationals a success, we have volunteers that come from as far as Australia and all over New Zealand from Kaitaia to Christchurch. Some have been here for the first time, others have been coming for decades. But regardless the main reason people keep coming back is our amazing waka ama whānau. Everyone works together to ensure that our waka ama community have the best experience possible. We appreciate all of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes and can’t thank everyone enough!
But we know that volunteering isn’t only limited to this event. We acknowledge all of the coaches, managers and whānau that support our paddlers year in year out to paddle around the motu and around the world
