Sheryle was a long standing treasured member of the Waikato Dragonboating & Waka Ama Association and known by many in the paddling fraternity.
For all that knew Sheryle (rellis) she always had a smile and a kind heart, she will be missed greatly. Her final farewell will be on wednesday at Ohaupo Rugby Club Ngahinapouri road at 11 am.

Audrey. - I carry you in my heart. You and Vaun, Vonnie and Alex, Steve and Jax made me and Eru part of your whanau. Me and you, we shared so much, our pride in our kids, our dreams and our paddling. Never judging, always smiling (and disappearing for a quick ciggy). I carry you in my heart Sheryllis. I will miss you more than words can say.

Kerry - Sheryl would have to be the strongest person I had the privilege to paddle with and against. Leading up to her last Nationals she missed just one practice because of her illness. At each practise she would always finish off with a cackle and a fag! She always cracked me up with her common sense and easy going attitude. But I was never fooled by you Sheryl, easy going ,yes ,but a serious competitor ,definitely, and always a winner! After each training I would go home and sing her praises to Stephen ,and he would always reply. Yep, she's a good stick. A small town girl you know! I know when Sheryl did the worlds in 2006 , a person in her team thought that because she was a smoker that her fitness was under question. But after setting the team a gruelling workout that same person realised that in fact Sheryl was the fittest in the team. You showed them Sheryl. Good for you! I was very proud of her throughout that campaign ,she handled the pressure and came up trumps every time. I wasn't surprised too much when I heard that after her chemo Sheryl would toddle on back to work. Shery lived a good life, a full life and the energy that she must have needed to be so strong finally evaded her last week. Love and respect to Casper and her children.

Margee 9 Oct 2012 - Hey Rellis; You’ve been a great friend, and one of our Hamilton City Watersports and Waka Life girls. Your humour, finesse, tenacity, charisma, carefree attitude, strength, ability, dedication and commitment will be greatly missed. You have grown over the years into a strong steerer; your ability is questionless. You are the rock that has kept Waka Life together. You have gained and given so much to paddling; and yet had so much more to give. You will remain in our hearts forever.

McGrath Whanau - To Casper, Shaun, Jess and Rachel - Rellis was a special person. It has been a pleasure to know her, live with her, paddle with her, drink with her, holiday with her, talk with her, laugh with her, laugh at her, really have a great time when ever she was around. Rellis has always been a great supporter and fan of not only Casper and her own children but also my boys and any junior paddlers whether in dragon boating, waka ama or rowing. Waiting for the boys to come home from long haul paddlers will not be the same without you. We will miss that great big smile and cackle. All our thoughts and love go out to Casper, Shaun, Jess, Rachel and whanau at this time.

Nyree King - So very sorry to hear this sad news. Sheryl always had a smile both on and off the water. At times she wasn't confident - but she was determined and never gave up. My thoughts go out to her family and friends.

Becs Ryder - Sheryll you'll be missed. Sorry I didn't make it to your farewell but I was thinking of you and your family alot. I first met you when you joined our HCW team to Hamilton Island race in 2003. Not the best outcome there but we had a blast and I don't think you ever looked back. Your smile and amazing gusto are what I will always remember. I'll miss spotting that hair trailing out of your cap on the back of the waka! Take care our Paddling Angel, we'll miss you.

Raewyn and Neil - We have a very small waka community here in NZ. Wonderful people who love to paddle with like minded people, so you will be missed by many who have paddled along side you and with you.
