Results - Waka Fest 2008 - Waka Seven's

Today Sunday, last day of the Waka Fest 2008. A short race in the surf out and around Rabbit Island

Yay, a fun race to finish the week off.

A le'mon start from the beach, W1 paddlers ran to their canoes and hit the surf. They did a 2.5km circuit around Rabbit Island and back in, then they ran around the tent and back out to the W6's that were ready and waiting.

Jump into the W6, off for a quick 8km loop down the main beach, back around Rabbit Island, then catch a wave or two on the way back in.

Tarawera won the Mens race in a time of 47.26 and Okere won the womens race in 53:04

Congratulations to Hei Matau Paddlers who took away the Top Club Trophy and Cash Prize (which is based on participation in all events as well as top placings),

I must say it did look great having all the waka lined up on the beach, and there were quite a few onlookers along the waterfront.
