Secondary Schools - Day 3 is under way

What brilliant conditions today. The sun was out early, and it is good to feel the warmth on your back.

Today you can watch the W6 500m races.
These races involve one turn at the 250m line.

For those of you new to Waka Ama, turning a 12m long canoe is no easy task. The canoe and ama (outrigger) needs to go around the small flag in the middle of the lane, while making sure no part of the canoe crosses into the neighboring lanes.

And tomorrow Thursday is the last day of the Waka Ama Secondary School sprint champs, is all the finals for the W6 250m and W6 500m races.

If you are looking for an excuse to call in sick, this is it. Starting at 9.30am, the last final is at 12.00pm and followed straight after with the medal ceremony.
