Event Sponsor ACC New Zealand

Have you visited our friends in the ACC Whānau Zone? Located next to the Don Rowlands Centre, they’ve got shade, sunscreen, bug spray, huarākau (fruit) and games and activities to keep our littlest whānau members occupied. Make sure you go and say hi.

Did you know ACC supports access to Rongoā Māori? If you want to learn more about how rongoā can be a part of your rehabilitation head down and have a chat with the ACC kaimahi or Rongoā practitioners at the ACC Whānau Zone located next to the Don Rowlands Centre.

Gold Clam Management at Karāpiro

As kaitiaki of our roto and awa we are emphasizing the importance of following the Check, Clean, Dry
steps for our Waka Ama whānau to ensure we do not spread Golden clams or any other invasive
species in our waterways.

As per the rules at Lake Karāpiro, all waka, life jackets/PFDs, clothing and footwear will need to be washed before leaving Lake Karāpiro, to ensure we do not spread the species to other waterways around the mōtu. There will be dedicated wash stations set up for waka, ama and kiato in the loading bay area. In addition, there will be dunking bins (with diluted bleach) for life jackets/PFDs, clothing, and footwear along the exit pathway. Please ensure all paddlers comply with the volunteer’s directions to protect our waterways.
