The Great Harbour Challenge Waka Ama race has been organised to celebrate ‘Matariki’ The Maori New Year. Hikoikoi Waka ama looks forward to paddlers participating in 2014 event at Oriental Bay on Saturday 7 June 2014.

Open to all waka ama, canoe, surfski, kayak and a course designed for SUP. There is something for everyone from the experienced paddler to juniors and those completing their first race.

8am Team Registration (Opens) and Safety Check Commence Freyberg Beach

9.00am Race 1 Begins 12-15km Womens/Mixed

9.10am Race 2 Begins 12-15km W1/SS/Canoe/Kayak

10.40am Race 3 Begins 8km W6 Men/Women/Mix

10.50am Race 4 Begins 8km W1/W2 SS/Kayak/Canoe & Race 5 Begins 4km SUP

12noon Race 6 Men W6 & 7 Begin Womens W1/W2 12-15km

2pm Pack up – Close/Prizeiving Freyberg Beach


Registrations close Wednesday 4 June 2014 by 5pm
Please indicate your intent by completing the onine entries through your club rep as per LDN, Sprint Nationals etc.

Registrations received after the deadline will incur an additional late fee per paddler.

REGISTRATION FEE: The registration fee is set at @$15.00 per paddler
Fee includes a hot soup and BBQ at end of each race.

Late registrations will incur a late fee of $10 per paddler
Registrations and intents received after 5pm on Wednesday 4 June will incur
the late fee

Payment will be accepted on the day, however we encourage fees being
deposited into our bank account by Wednesday 4 June 2014.
