Another fantastic day of racing yesterday, a massive congratulations to our new National Champions and to all those who were out on the water yesterday. A message for all clubs bringing Waka to LDN - please bring waka trolley and tires for your canoes. The area that rigged canoes will be situated is asphalt and a 50m distance from the launch area. Any questions contact [email protected]

The weather for Saturday is predicted to be 25Knots up to 40K strong northerly with a high percentage of cloud cover and rain. It makes for low visibility on the day and Narrowneck is fully exposed to these northerly winds. Therefore in the interest of safety the race organisers have decided to cancel the event. Ruamata Waka Ama Club invite you to Te Aro o Īhenga, a waka ama race traversing (Lakes) Rotorua and Rotoiti, honouring one of Te Arawa’s eponymous ancestors and his famous expeditions which established Te Arawa and its descendants in this region. The race runs across (Lake) Rotorua from Reeme St Reserve, Ngongotahā to the Ōhau Channel, along the Ōkere diversion wall and into (Lake) Rotoiti. The race finish is at Te Tāhuna (Hinehopu Reserve), Tamatea Street, in Rotoiti. It is approximately 30 km.
