Our newly established Mangawhai Waka Ama (Inc) Club are looking for a loan of a W6. We currently do not have a waka and our founding members are keen to get out on the water. Because we are a club of mostly new paddlers we will stick to paddling within the harbour for this season.

If you have a boat or wish to drive a hire boat please contact [email protected] we still have crews from out of Auckland looking to hire support boats for the event. Support boats are paid $500 per boat/driver. If you are able to drive a boat payment is $200, we have a limited number of boats looking for drivers only.

Thanks to all the paddlers and whanau who supported us at the Omokoroa Dash. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Awesome to see so many new paddlers out there and to have our Junior Elite Long Distance Womens squad there supporting the day as well.

The “Ace Cuthers Memorial Club Spirit Award” is a trophy that is chosen by the Volunteers and Officials at the event.This trophy was carved and named in honour of Ace Cuthers who we sadly lost in 2010. This year the award was presented to Te Pou Herenga Waka Ama Club

In 2015 Waka Ama NZ /Ngā Kaihoe o Aotearoa Board had great pleasure in announcing the establishment of a ‘virtual’ Hall of Fame to permanently recognise outstanding contributors to the sport of waka ama in New Zealand/Aotearoa. This year we have four very special people who dedicate much of their lives to the sport of Waka Ama in New Zealand since it began in this country - Hoturoa Kerr, Maggie Greening, Corrina Gage and Alex Ryder
