This is the information hub for the Aotearoa Waka Ama Team competing at the 2025 World Distance Champs to be held in Brazil, 13 - 21 August 2025

Aotearoa W1 & W6 Qualifiers

Congratulations to the following W1 paddlers and W6 club teams who have qualified from the recent Long Distance Nationals to represent Aotearoa.

Aotearoa Team Selections

Congratulations to the following paddlers who have been selected to represent Aotearoa in the selected J19 Wāhine, J19 Tāne, Open Wāhine, and Open Tāne teams.

World Distance Pānui 1

Pānui 1 (see attachments) is now out. It covers the location of the event along with some more detailed information around the W6 waka specifications for age group qualification.

Please note: W6 Club teams trying to qualify for age group spots must compete at the Long Distance Nationals in a Moana Nui – Mahi Mahi W6. This is to ensure that qualification is done on as level a field as possible. Please note you can use the kiato and ama of choice.

The National Age Group W6 & W1 Intents are now open for those who wish to qualify for the 2025 IVF Waka Ama World Distance Championships in Brazil.
