BEREAVEMENT: Trish Spence

Our dear friend Trish Spence passed away on Saturday in her home town of Dallas, Texas.

"Our dearest friend Trish Spence passed away on Saturday in her home town of Dallas, U.S.A.. We are numb with sorrow. Trish found out she had breast cancer after coming back from an awesome Moloka’I waka trip in 2007. Since then, she lived her life to the fullest, always encouraging us to always look on the bright side. There is so much to be said about this amazing lady. Trish was looking forward to coming back to waka. We will miss her so much. Haere, haere our beautiful friend…”

“For me, life is about loving openly, having peace in my heart, and experiencing the spirit of true joy. The journey to attain this is not always a smooth road, but it is full of amazing changes and a more meaningful life. I want this for others as well. We are all on our own journeys, taking it one step at a time.
Cheers to our journeys!” Tricia Spence, May 2011

Denise & Tony Tapp -
Beautiful Trish,
Even when we close our eyes
there's an image of your face
and once again we come to realize
You're a loss we can't replace.
Denise & Tony Tapp

"Texas" to your "Kahukura" team mates from Mareikura.
You towered above all of us all 6ft 5ins. We barely came up to your armpits. But In the Waka we were one .
You are and will always be a part of our "Whanau".
Rest in Peace our tall Texan.

Marinna Millanta-Lowrey - Sweet Trish - I was with you on that Molokai'i trip - I took your picture and I marvelled then at the person you were - beautiful (inside and out), always positive, enjoyed life and generally a stunning stunning person. That trip was one out of the bag for sure, I've been blessed to know you, to have had some time with you and wish you peace and happiness now. You will always, always be remembered for the treasure you are - pass my love on to my Dad Colin (recently deceased) and our waka friends Nana Pi, Bo Herbert, Ricky Nu'u, Kris Kjeldsen and Ace - now you'll be in waka heaven girlfriend !
