Team Aihe, NZ, medalled, they were the 3rd master 40+ (their masters go from 40, Senior Masters are the 50+ category).
Only 15mins behind Outrigger Canoe Club (Waikiki) and 5mins behind 2nd place Kawaihae. And only 7mins behind last years Master winners, Mooloolaba OCC (1st place Senior Masters 2010)
There were 121 crews which was one of the biggest ever. It was truly a great experience the amount of organisation that goes into the race. It was a pretty awesome site seeing 121 canoes all on beach ready to go!
The conditions were very challenging for all crews, some big surf coming from all directions! Our boys did an amazing job!
Placing 37th overall and beating some very good open crews.
Here are some photos. Still downloading some video from boat, so will send thru link when done.
Cheers
