Whaingaroa Whanau Hoe Waka wishes to invite paddlers, whanau and friends to Raglan for the weekend of May 9th and 10th 2015. 

We have changed the format of our race from one, to, two days to allow for continued growth and challenges. 

We hope that you can come, enjoy our two day event and stay in Raglan for a weekend of waka ama!

Site Map for W6 Venue - Saturday 9th May at Te Kopua, Raglan.
Please pay particular attention to trailer parking, rigging and no-parking areas.

If you are bringing waka anytime before Saturday, or leaving them over the weekend. You must park your trailers in the smaller blue area beside the airfield. Waka may be left in the rigging areas but no trailers.

The airfield (large blue and green areas) will be open for parking from 5.30am to 6.00pm on Saturday 9th May.
Please note that our local soccer club has games on Saturday so there will be no parking past the admin area and towards the playground/skatepark.

SATURDAY May 9th - Te Kopua, Raglan
  • W6 Junior 8km - boys girls mixed $20
  • W6 Novice 8km - men women mixed $30
  • W6 Open, master, senior master, golden master 24km - men women and mixed $40
  • The Nga Tai Whakarongo ‘Korowai Aroha’ Trophy and $500 will be awarded to the top club (most points for participation and placings).
  • We also have the Chrissy Herbert Memorial Trophy for the fastest womens team over the 24km course and the Piripi Kerepoa memorial Trophy to be awarded to the fastest Senior Master Mens team in the 24km.

SUNDAY May 10th -  Manu Bay, Raglan
  • W1 Open, master, senior master, golden master 15 - 20km - men women  $40
  • W2 Open, master, senior master, golden master 15 - 20km - men women and mixed $40
  • We will host the W1 and W2 (15 -20km) at Manu Bay Reserve, Raglan, with three possible open ocean courses, and one course on the Raglan Harbour (incase of rough weather). Paddler entry numbers to this event will be limited, and restricted to those with suitable open ocean experience
W1 and W2 Venue - Sunday May 10th
The race site at Manu Bay (or alternate venue at Te Kopua), on Sunday May10th will
have parking and administration areas identified with signs.

Kai


Supporter meal tickets are $10 and can be purchased via http://wakaama.co.nz/shop


To help us with catering, please contact us if you or your crew will not be staying for the Kai (approx Saturday - 3pm, Sunday - 1pm).  Or if you require a VEGETARIAN option. 

We have other exciting news for you, including: choice prizes, yummy paddler kai, and awesome spot prizes.

We appreciate your support in keeping our event (including prizegiving), alcohol and smoke free. Please consider your waste at the race site by using reusable drink containers or recycling using the appropriate bins.

All this and more information including racecourses will be available in Panui 2 on April 10th.
