Worlds 2008 - Splashing it up

Aug 09, 2008

Aotearoa Kaha are off to a big start in the J19 Men V61000 repechage

Tomorrow is finals day, all the finals, all the divisions. Our hopes and well wishes rest with those who have made the cut.

The racing was hot, the admin tent was hotter.
We actually brought a thermometer with us today, cause I am still struggling with the Fahrenheit thing.

It maxed out at 35.6 degrees at 3pm this afternoon, I will never complain about the tower at karapiro again.

Today was make or break for a number of our teams.
While I would have liked to get more photos of our teams, we have been flat out getting the progressions out the door.

Shaun from down south, has been helping out on the timing for the last few days (anything to get an officials badge).

Anyway, every day he hands around a piece of paper, and takes coffee orders for starbucks. I don't know what he does with those orders, it must be his sense of humour or something, cause today was the third time now, and I have never seen any coffee "ever" get delivered.

Shaun "The Little General" Hardcastle, barking out orders to the contingent
Mmmmmm....Donuts
These are the W1 canoes we use for racing. They are called Tevanui.

Aotearoa Matukutureia look on as Aotearoa SolutioNZs cross the line.

Aotearoa SolutioNZs took 1st in the Snr Master Women V6 500 repechage giving them a spot in the final tomorrow.

Aotearoa Kaha are off to a big start.

Come on boys, put your paddles in the water before you pull it back.

Aotearoa Kaha, came first in the J19 Men V61000 repechage, and have scored a spot in the finals too

Aotearoa Kotuku coming through the first turn.

The Golden master men were also able to secure a place in the finals tomorrow.

All the boats are on shore while some quick repairs are done to the course. A couple of the turning flags had come loose.
