Hi there,
Here are some details you will need for the race on Saturday._
Please assemble to rig your waka at Kowharewa Bay, Tutukaka at 8am on Saturday morning. We will assign support boats to each racing waka once you have registered.
The steerers and team capts briefing is scheduled for 8.30am at Kowharewa Bay. Race start is scheduled for 1030hrs for the women and 1100hrs for the men.
The race course is weather dependent as you know and will be finalised on race day and announced at the race briefing. Presently the forecast is for light easterlies, easing as the day progresses.
Prizegiving and meal is at 1600hrs (4pm) or thereabouts at the Ngunguru Sports Complex. There is trailer parking available there if you need it.
Thanks you for your support. We are determined to make this race a firm fixture on the calendar and had to start somewhere. So thank you again for signing up.
Please note your support boat skippers are all new to this (bar one) so having a 'boat person' -- while not compulsory --- would probably be a good idea. Be patient with them, we need them back next year!
Have a good day and stay safe.
See you on Saturday.
