What course did you complete at Outward Bound? How long were you at Outward Bound for?

Leaps and Bounds 8 days

What did you find most challenging at Outward Bound?

Facing my fears and not knowing what was coming next

What experience did you enjoy the most?

Sleeping in the bush with me and mum practically talking all night about so many things, and, making new friends

What would you say to someone who is thinking about doing a course?

Definitely do and don’t be afraid to try new things. There are really life changing experiences in in doing this course.

What are some tips you would give to people who are going on a course?

Don’t worry about what’s coming next. Focus on the present and not the future, and take real warm clothing if you go in winter.

What are some values that Outward Bound School taught you?

Try and make time for yourself and not just others. And ‘You were born to stand out, not blend with the crowd’.

Would you recommend Outward Bound to fellow paddlers?

Yes, definitely, do it to learn a little more about yourself. The stuff you do can help in so many ways, even if you don’t want to do it, you have to, then you feel quite pleased with yourself that you did.

Is there any one you would like to thank that supported you during your Outward Bound experience?

Thank you to Kupe Watch 606, my Instructors Glen and Mike, and Waka Ama NZ for this  scholarship. It was an amazing adventure and chance of a life time.
